All Public Services, private enterprises, banks and shops are closed on Public Holidays. In resort and coastal areas, however, shops and certain services remain open. Banks are closed on Easter Tuesday but not on Dec. 24.

Easter – note that Easter is celebrated according to the Greek Orthodox calendar and is usually over a different date than in the rest of Europe. The Tuesday after Easter Monday is taken as an extra day’s holiday.

Banking hours are generally Mon-Fri 0830-1230 in June, July and August; Mon-Fri 0815-1230 and Mon 1515-1645 rest of year. Certain central banks may also open Tues-Fri in the afternoon. Banks in Larnaca and at Paphos International Airport are open all day.

The typically mediterranean climate means that Cyprus enjoys 340 days of brilliant sunshine per year.
Snow is very rare on the central plain and the coastal areas but there is snowfall every year between December and March in the areas above 1000m above sea level. The Troodos mountains offer good skiing conditions for approximately 6 weeks a year.
